International Book of the Week #1

2429135This weeks international book of the week is: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

Original title: Män som hatar kvinnor, I actually put that title on google translate to see how close the translation was, and it actually translates to “Men who hate woman”, so I thought that was interesting.

Original language: This book is originally written in Swedish, but since I can’t read nor understand Swedish, I will be reading it in english.

What it’s about: Mikael Blomkvist, a once-respected financial journalist, watches his professional life rapidly crumble around him. Prospects appear bleak until an unexpected (and unsettling) offer to resurrect his name is

extended by an old-school titan of Swedish industry. The catch—and there’s always a catch—is that Blomkvist must first spend a year researching a mysterious disappearance that has remained unsolved for nearly four decades. With few other options, he accepts and enlists the help of investigator Lisbeth Salander, a misunderstood genius with a cache of authority issues. Little is as it seems in Larsson’s novel, but there is at least one constant: you really don’t want to mess with the girl with the dragon tattoo.

Why I chose it: Well, it’s a pretty popular book/series and I wanted to give it a shot. I have actually read the first 20 pages last month, and thought it was a bit boring. But this book has such good ratings, so I’m hoping it gets better. So far, the only thing that’s sucking me in is the mystery aspect of this book.

Have any of you read this book? If so, did you like it, felt neutral or hated it? Let me know!

And if you guys want to join me, you are more than welcome too!

Thanks for reading ❤
